Interwoven's Content Infrastructure Selected by Synopsys

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Interwoven, Inc. (Nasdaq: IWOV), the leading provider of Content Infrastructure, today announced that Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq: SNPS), the technology leader for complex integrated circuit design, has selected Interwoven's Content Infrastructure product suite for its customer extranet, SolvNet®. By facilitating easy content tagging and contribution, Interwoven empowers Synopsys design tool and product experts to contribute ``intelligent content'' to the extranet, thereby giving customers up-to-date, easily searched, relevant and accurate information such as product FAQ's, application notes and tool scripts.

After using an internally-developed system for six years, Synopsys realized the importance of having a complete solution that would easily grow with their needs. Synopsys selected Interwoven's Content Infrastructure product suite because it provides an overall infrastructure for their extranet, allowing them to easily publish and update graphics, file and database content to the Web.

``Synopsys customers need access to the most current information about our products, understand how to use them effectively to complete their complex electronic designs and get them to market on time,'' said Vito Mazzarino, senior director of Internet Enabled Services at Synopsys. ``By implementing Interwoven's Content Infrastructure, we expect to expand the types of information we can provide and, by simplifying the content creation and management process to significantly reduce the time and effort it takes to create and deliver the most current technical information.''

With Content Infrastructure, one of the key capabilities for Synopsys is significantly improved metadata tagging, which will make it easier for site users to search for and find the information they need. Metadata is data that describes content such as creation date, subject, title, author, etc. Metadata tagging enables contributors to easily assign metatags to content for more accurate searches and re-use of existing content. Making the Synopsys site easier to search was an important step in fulfilling their goal for a better customer online experience.

``Interwoven's Content Infrastructure will help Synopsys enhance their popular customer extranet by making it easier to create and maintain up-to-date, accurate and intelligent Web content,'' said Joe Ruck, senior vice president, marketing at Interwoven. ``When implemented, Content Infrastructure will significantly improve the ability of Synopsys customers to conduct intelligent searches and access timely, relevant design tool information.''

For more information on how Interwoven's metatagging automates the process of applying complete and consistent metadata to enterprise content assets, please see http://www.interwoven.com/news/metatagging.html .
